We Have The Perfect Innovation Program For All Inner City Communities!
Since 2003, BSTFPA has been striving to become the leader in providing theatre classes for Alexandria, Virginia’s poor and low-income community by way of after-school programs, in Inner City public schools, in area recreation centers, and by partnering with social service agencies, and other community family-based programs.
The Awareness in the Arts for Children and Youth Program, is designed to use educational theatre programs to build self esteem, confidence, and a sense of community, while celebrating diversity in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Its purpose is to consists of Alexandria’s community student actors, directors, designers, and technicians who seek to stimulate dramatic activities in our Inner City, and to assist in the staging of all community-based workshops and major productions as well as productions of visiting dramatic groups.
Our programs offers an opportunity for involvement in the theatrical events and stage works of all types to all interested members of the City of Alexandria community. Apprenticeship is available to every person expressing an interest in the organization, and membership is earned by subsequent work on productions. From Imaginative Plays, to specialized acting classes, our programs offer unique paths of expression, collaboration, community building, and fun! Our team will work with schools, churches, and/or community organizations, to tailor a program to fit the needs of your establishment.

Our YOUTH ARTS HANDS-ON WORKSHOP EMPOWERING HONOR Project The Y.A.H.W.E.H Project ... a gateway to the Arts!Developed under the umbrella of Awareness in the Arts for Children and Youth Program, Y.A.H.W.E.H. is responding to a need for a workable solution to the fore- mentioned community issues. Community youth and young adults will participate in the new project five days a week for eight weeks. The possibilities_ "A child must learn early to believe he/she is somebody worthwhile and then she can do many praiseworthy things". Our programs are meant to encourage children and youth participation in the arts and to enhance the learning climate in the schools and communities within the City of Alexandria, through community and school performances of high quality, arts-infused curriculum, teacher and artist training, and arts advocacy.
Our Alexandria, and surrounding area's highly qualified artist-educators, and easy class scheduling will help make us the local benchmark in theater arts education for children from elementary-school through twelfth grade. Plus, In-School Residences Artists, will accessible to teach programs such as creative dramatics, creative movement, creative music, improvisation, storytelling, play production, and multi-cultural dance. Combine theatrical arts and education to teach children and youth the principles of harmony. Our Aggression Prevention and Intervention Program bring together professional artists, prevention specialists, and at-risk youth in residency formats to raise social awareness of and ways of dealing with violence and related issues.
Custom Designed Theatre Classes! We can work with you to tailor a program to fit the needs of your organization. If one of our pre-designed programs does not fit your needs, we can work with you to create a program more suited to your time, space and curriculum needs. Email us with your ideas. Creative Dramatics (suggested ages: Grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9, plus a 45 minute version available for preschoolers) Loads of laughter! Fun For All! By the end of class, the child and youth will have created a whole play to share with family and friends!
